absolutely glorious few days. Took the kayaks out downstream at tea time (loved dropping back in to set up barbecue, then straight back out again!) Set off a dozen curlews from Ardnish. Drifted back in on perfect still water – passed herons, redshanks, greenshanks, oystercatchers and loads of gulls. The sounds of the curlews was really haunting. Thursday evening, while having tea in sitting room, looked out to see 6 herons, 2 curlews, 2 oystercatchers and the odd gull. Wonderful watching the almost prehistoric herons fishing in the evening sun at the foot of the garden. Continued until the tide started racing in – it is spectacularly fast at Springs.
